Derek Cheng has entered the Custom Bus photo competition for the first time, starting with this action pic taken in Parramatta, with three Custom city CB60 buses in the one shot.

Three Custom buses again, this time up front with a urban bus TNSW CB80 with a Hopkinson CB80 and a Veolia CB60 Evo II in the background.

Only two Custom buses this time with a CB80 Custom TNSW to the left and a CB60 Evo II Liverpool Shuttle bus to the right.

Steve Lalor, Custom Queensland’s Production Manager, will now be managing all bus sales for Queensland and Northern NSW. Steve has worked with Custom for 37 years, starting as a bus body building apprentice in Sydneyand moving across to the drawing office whilst still completing his apprenticeship. Steve has worked across all aspects of the bus building business through managing the design and development areas, managing NSW STA and Canberra ACTION government contracts before becoming the QLD plant Production Manager in 2004. It’s a true understatement that Steve knows all aspects of bus production, Custom and the Australian bus industry.

Tube Laser Cutting Service

Custom launches its Tube Laser Cutting service headed by Scott Mackison to a great start with orders already from OneSteel.

In 2009 Custom Bus invested in a laser cutting system designed specifically for cutting stainless steel and alloy tube and pipe for its bus building manufacturing. The machine has greatly increased production and design capabilities in the building of Customs modern fleet.

The 3D laser is cutter is situated in Sydney but production can be provided throughout Australia and overseas.

Tube Laser Cutting is able to provide almost any configuration of holes, slots, notches or joints on your round, square, rectangular or special shaped metal tube. In addition Tube Laser Cutting service is able to draw on the resources of Custom Bus in-house engineering team for any complex design features.

Korean Students at Custom Bus

Korean students pictured with Custom staff, collecting their certificates on completion of a two week work experience placement, at the Custom Bus Sydney plant.

The students from St Phillips International College have been in Australia on a TAFE study tour over the last few months with the aim of undergoing welding and mechanical training and study in NSW, commencing March 2012.

Thanks goes to Custom Area Manager Rory Strachan, who continues to supervise and coordinate our school & TAFE work placement program, Danny Mottley and the rest of the Panel line team for their support. The students learnt a great deal and had a good time in the process.
